While few of us like to admit owning a problem dog, the fact is that difficult dogs are very common. Research suggest that it maybe as high as 40% of the total dog population With an estimated seven million dogs in the UK that’s an awful lot of unbalanced canines. When your dog has a behaviour problem, this could put a great strain on the relationship between family and dog. It can make a difference between really enjoying walking your dog, and the walk becoming a nightmare. I am a dog psychologist specializing in neurotic disorders, covering fear and anxiety. General nervousness, excitability, obsessive compulsive disorders and separation related problems can all make our lives less easy to deal with. These symptoms do the same to our dogs and make them unbalanced.
